CAMBEX ANNOUNCES NEW PCIe FIBRE CHANNEL HOST BUS ADAPTERSThe FibreQuik* PC8000e and PC8002e PCI Express (PCIe) Host Bus Adapters Enable High-Performance, High-Availability SAN ConnectivitySouthborough, MA May 14, 2010 - Cambex Corporation, a leading supplier of Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions, high-availability storage solutions and memory products, today announced its new PCIe host bus adapters (HBA), which provide high-speed, high-availability connectivity for SANs in AIX, Windows and Linux environments. The Cambex FibreQuik PC8000e and PC8002e PCIe HBAs support PCIe x8 bus transfers and operate at either 8 Gb/s, 4 Gb/s or 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates. The HBA automatically senses whether the Fibre Channel network is running at 8 Gb/s, 4 Gb/s or 2 Gb/s and connects with the appropriate data rate. This auto sensing function allows the FibreQuik PCIe HBA to be fully backward compatible with existing lower speed Fibre Channel installations while providing customers with seamless migration to new 8 Gb/s Fibre Channel deployments. The new FibreQuik HBAs are capable of providing 1600 MB/s bandwidth in duplex mode and connecting at distances of up to 500 meters. It provides over 200,000 operations per second enabling it to respond to peak database requests called for by data intensive, on-line transaction processing applications. The FibreQuik PCIe HBA is designed to provide the optimal combination of performance and reliability to allow the faster data access and scalability demanded by today's advanced applications. It also incorporates the availability of Cambex's highly successful Dynamic Path Failover (DPF) software, providing the ability to operate at twice the speed while eliminating single points of failure in AIX environments. In addition to AIX, the FibreQuik PCIe HBA supports Windows and Linux operating environments and is available immediately. With the introduction of the FibreQuik PCIe host bus adapter, Cambex is well positioned to supply customers with the highest-performance, highest-availability connectivity solutions supporting either the PCI-X or PCIe busses. This robust performance will be even more important as heterogeneous SAN installations store and manage growing volumes of information. The Cambex FibreQuik HBAs enable the implementation of high-performance SANs with Fibre Channel fabric and arbitrated loop support for mission-critical environments. The advanced FibreQuik features deliver high-bandwidth, high-availability, scalability and reliability for cost- effective SAN implementations that are designed to address current and future business requirements. FibreQuik connectivity products include the 8 Gb/s FibreQuik PCIe PC8000e and PC8002e HBAs, 4 Gb/s FibreQuik PCIe PC4000e and PC4002e HBAs, 4 Gb/s FibreQuik PCI-X PC4002 and PC4000 HBAs, 2 Gb/s FibreQuik PC2000 HBAs, and MC1000 HBAs and the HB2000, a cost-effective, eight-port digital Fibre Channel hub. Cambex is the only independent supplier of HBAs and high-availability Dynamic Path Failover (DPF) software for IBM's AIX operating system supporting a large number of heterogeneous RAID Storage platforms.
