CAMBEX AND STORAGETEK JOINTLY ANNOUNCE QUALIFICATION OF CAMBEX FIBRE CHANNEL HOST BUS ADAPTERS FOR USE WITH STORAGETEK DISK STORAGE SYSTEMS
WALTHAM, Mass. and LOUISVILLE, Colo.– June 5, 2003 – Cambex Corporation (OTCBB: CBEX), a leading supplier of memory and storage solutions, and StorageTek® (Storage Technology Corp., NYSE:STK), the storage services and solutions expert, have jointly announced qualification of Cambex’s FibreQuikTMPC2000 Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) and Dynamic Path FailoverTMhigh-availability software for interoperability with StorageTek D-Series disk products for IBM AIX operating environments.
Qualification of Cambex’s latest FibreQuik HBAs with StorageTek disk products demonstrates the commitment that both companies have in delivering fully interoperable storage area network (SAN) solutions to their customers. The integrated Cambex and StorageTek Fibre Channel Disk solutions provide highly available disk storage for IBM AIX operating environments.
“We are pleased that StorageTek is offering our FibreQuik PC2000 HBAs for use with their industry leading storage solutions,” said Joseph F. Kruy, Chairman and CEO of Cambex. “We have been partnering with StorageTek for several years to provide our joint customers with data center class, high availability disk solutions for IBM environments.”
“StorageTek partners with leading vendors such as Cambex to deliver to customers innovative storage solutions offering the highest level of interoperability, performance, and availability,” said Pierre Cousin, vice president and general manager, StorageTek Online Solutions. “The combination of StorageTek’s best-in-class disk storage products and Cambex’s proven HBA solutions offer data center managers enterprise-level reliability and SAN connectivity in their AIX environments.”
Cambex’s FibreQuik Fibre Channel HBAs provide superior performance and availability for building mission-critical, heterogeneous SANs in IBM AIX, Linux, and Windows environments. The PC2000 host bus adapter is the latest addition to the growing family of FibreQuik products. With a top speed of 2 gigabits/second in each direction, the PC2000 provides 400 MB/s bandwidth in full duplex operation. Its auto sensing and negotiation capability dynamically senses attachments to 1 GB/s target devices and adjusts the data rate accordingly. When Cambex’s Dynamic Path Failover software is implemented, active-active path operation with multiple PC2000 cards can provide up to 800 MB/s data throughput, the highest SAN data transfer rate in the industry.
